REfficient has launched a Waste Diversion Champions program that highlights national and regional customers for their actions and results to reduce-reuse-recycle.

Hamilton, Ontario (PRWEB) April 16, 2014

As part of Earth Month celebrations in April, REfficient has recognized its customers that have reached impressive levels of the reduce-reuse-recycle concept through the inaugural Waste Diversion Champions program.

The Waste Diversion Champions program recognizes 29 companies that have diverted at least 1000 pounds from landfill in the last year through buying, reusing, reselling or recycling their surplus assets. There are three recognition levels, with the highest Excellence level being held by Cogeco Cable with of over 100,000 lbs diverted. Six companies are included in the Master Level (10,000-99,999 lbs), while 22 businesses are recognized in the Leader Level (1000-9999 lbs).

REfficient CEO Stephanie McLarty says this shows the interrelated business and environmental value when businesses take action, “There is a lot of talk about doing the right thing for the environment, but not always action. We recognize those companies that put their values into practice and reap the benefits.” McLarty also noted that behind the numbers, there are a lot of great stories. “Source Cable, a Hamilton, Ontario-based triple play service provider, is recognized in the Master level along with companies much larger than them. Moreover, Source Cable has not only demonstrated their commitment to sustainable procurement, but also to buying local.”

Earth Day is April 22nd and celebrations exist for all of April as Earth Month. REfficient is also running a Phones4Trees cell phone recycling program where trees are planted for phones handed in. REfficient is partnering with Earth Day Hamilton for the Community Treeplanting Festival on April 26, 2014, where program participants and their families can plant the trees themselves.

Environmental responsibility is integral to REfficient’s business model. As a Certified B Corporation, REfficient commits to higher levels of performance, transparency, and accountability. In 2013, the company was recognized as one of 63 companies globally as being “Best for the World” for environmental performance.
