Earth Advantage (EA), a nonprofit focused on advancing the creation of better buildings, convened this year’s Green Home Builder Award judges to assess dozens of submissions.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) August 22, 2013
The Earth Advantage Green Home Builder Awards began in 2012 to recognize high performance building in Oregon and Southern Washington by EA certified homebuilders. The awards currently focus on six categories of recognition: New EA Builder, Low Income Builder, Volume Builder, Custom Builder, LEED® Builder and Hall of Fame Builder. Earth Advantage certified builders must submit applications for consideration and this year saw a marked increase in submissions over last.
On August 21, 2013, this year’s judges met to evaluate the applications using a set of strict criteria. This year’s judges are Jonathan Cohen, principal and chief engineer for Imagine Energy, LLC, Tracey Hicks, co-owner of Dwell Realty and owner of the All Things Real Estate newspaper and Vinh Mason, green building policy coordinator for the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. Tracey Hicks, one of this year’s judges said, “It was hard to choose the winners with all the hard work these companies put into their homes. The dedication to sustainability was prevalent in all the entries.”
This year’s Green Home Builder Award winners will be announced at the Earth Advantage Annual Golf Invitational, now in its 11th year held at McMenamins Edgefield on September 12. The awards are partially sponsored by Energy Trust of Oregon and the golf event is co-sponsored by; Bank of America, Cadet Manufacturing, NW Natural, Owens Corning, Gary’s Vacuflo, Jacobs Heating & Air Conditioning and The Warneke Group.
