CakeSystems energy efficiency software and database platform wholly owned by Earth Advantage, announces full implementation of HPXML, the new national standard for home energy performance data exchange. CakeSystems is now one of the first software platforms to adopt Home Performance XML (HPXML).

(PRWEB) July 30, 2013

HPXML uses standard data sets and an XML-based protocol (HPXML) for transferring home performance data among multiple actors involved in program reporting for home energy performance data and information exchange. Developed under the coordination of the National Home Performance Council, has been recognized by the Building Performance Institute as a national standard for data storage and exchange in home energy performance databases. The utilization of HPXML as an industry standard allows home performance contractors, consumers and organizations to exchange information among different databases and auditing software programs, ensure seamless and efficient data exchange.

“We are excited to be implementing one of the first programs to utilize the HPXML national standard. CakeSystems’ mantra is to make energy efficiency simpler for all stakeholders, or ‘a piece of Cake,’ and HPXML streamlines the way data is shared. Using HPXML will help connect industries, from utilities to real estate professionals to underwriters,” said CakeSystems’ National Sales Manager, Andrew Healy. CakeSystems provides customers a pathway to completing an energy efficiency retrofit project, now has the capacity to exchange and transfer data with any other software tool using HPXML. “Data standards are crucial to the growth and expansion of the home performance industry, and we’re delighted that CakeSystems, as one of the best-recognized software tools in the field, is supporting standardization by adopting HPXML,” National Home Performance Council Managing Director Robin LeBaron said.

Clients of CakeSystems will now benefit by being part of this data exchange standard. NeighborWorks H.E.A.T. Squad, a nonprofit organization in Vermont that helps homeowners make health and safety repairs to their homes, uses CakeSystems to complete home audits and encourage homeowners to make efficiency upgrades to their homes. “The time, effort, and aggravation that comes with transferring program data from one program to another is beyond frustrating,” said H.E.A.T. Squad Coordinator Melanie Paskevich. “We are looking forward to the process being streamlined and efficient, which then relates to our program being more efficient, meaning that we can take care of more customers.” Vermont’s statewide energy efficiency provider, Efficiency Vermont, is excited organizations in the area will begin utilizing this national standard. “This is a very welcome and exciting development,” said Nancy Gamble, Manager of Efficiency Vermont’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program. “We have been very pleased to work with CakeSystems and NeighborWorks H.E.A.T.
