Organizations receiving the award will work on a variety of environmental and education priorities in the Midwest, addressing these priorities from a community perspective. Recipients were charged to develop collaborative structures within their community that will engage young people in actively addressing environmental and community issues. In addition, the environmental education affiliates will support the integration of the best practices of environmental literacy into the education initiatives and projects of the community organizations.
