Mark Rohrbach Appointed Senior Engineer for Pacific Northwest Region

Hayward Baker names Mark Rohrbach Senior Engineer at its Seattle Regional Office covering the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada regions.

Hayward Baker Inc. (HB), North America’s leader in geotechnical construction, is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Rohrbach, PE, GE, and P.Eng. to the company’s regional office in Seattle, Wa. As a Senior Engineer, Mr. Rohrbach will enhance Hayward Baker’s established design-build capabilities.

Rohrbach has over 15 years of experience providing geotechnical engineering services throughout the continental United States, Alaska, and southern Canada. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and his M.S. in Civil Engineering (MSCE-Soil Mechanics) from the University of Washington (Seattle) and has done post-graduate work in risk analysis and business management.

Rohrbach is a registered professional engineer in nine states, including California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Texas, Nevada, Wisconsin, Hawaii and Alaska. In addition, he is a registered professional geotechnical engineer in Oregon, and a P.Eng. in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Alberta, Canada.

Mark Rohrbach is a licensed foster parent and a U.S. Army veteran (2nd of the 75th – Ranger/Airborne). Before joining HB, he was a senior engineer with E3RA Inc. and Lachel & Associates, a Schnabel Engineering company. His specialties include design of ground improvement systems, geo-structural design of underground projects, deep foundations, structural retaining wall design (temporary shoring and permanent wall systems) and deep access shafts. Major structures include power plants, dams, subway systems, elevated train systems, and large sewer and transit tunnel projects.

Rohrbach is an active member of industry associations and organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Currently, he serves as a Director for the Tacoma/Olympia Section of ASCE. In addition, he served as the President to the Tacoma/Olympia Section of ASCE from 2010 to 2013, and President of ASCE’s Seattle Section Geotechnical Group from 2005 to 2006.

Rohrbach’s recent noteworthy publications include the technical papers “Uncertainties in CSL Test Interpretations and Recommendations Toward a More Efficient Process” (co-authored with T. Kovacs and Fadzilah Saidin), “Design and Construction of the Lake Tap Tunnel at Lake Dorothy Hydro, Juneau, Alaska” (co-authored with S. Brandon and M. L. Renegar), and “Innovative Use of Ground Improvement” (co-authored with M. Koelling and L. Shao).
