Buddha Wild, Monk in a Hut, the stunning and award winning feature documentary that played in mainstream cinemas to critical acclaim in the USA and elsewhere, is holding a community screening at the AYNI Gallery, at 216 State Street in Santa Barbara on 17 May, 2014 at 7pm. There will be a reception, followed by a screening and Q &A with actress/director Anna Wilding.

Buddha Wild was blessed by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. Buddha Wild has attracted viewers around the world, of all faiths, ages and backgrounds.
The Chrysler Museum said, "East meets West with engaging and enlightening candor (and the blessing of the Dalai Lama) while showing what really happens behind monastery doors. The film covers sensitive topics like politics, celibacy, and ecology with humor and grace."
Ms. Wilding, whose additional duties included cinematography, consciously chose to film, in part, in guerrilla style. The film examines the lives of missionary Theravadin monks from Thailand and Sri Lanka in an, upbeat, engaging way that departs from traditional linear documentary story telling.
Buddha Wild, which has been called “daring and heartfelt” by Patrick Rutnam, of The Sri Lankan Reporter, "a beautiful film" by Moving Pictures Magazine,and has become somewhat of a crossover film proving popular in Asia,Canada, and the USA.
Buddha Wild, Monk in a Hut was a prize winner for Best Feature Documentary in the USA, by the Hollywood Studio sponsored Kids First at National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and has been invited by a number of national and international festivals and series’ including Los Angeles SAG FOUNDATION Screening Series, India’s International Festival of Films on Tribal Arts and Culture, USA Kids Films Festival, Calgary Film Series, Santa Fe Film Series, Sundance Film Festival (out of competition), Yosemite National Park,and others. Buddha Wild has screened worldwide in cinemas, temples, museums, including New York’s World Earth Week NY, Chrysler Museum and Robert Thurman's Tibet House, in New York.
In a special online screening in India, Buddha Wild went viral amongst Indian audiences ranking number 8 out of 500 films.Buddha Wild was cited as, “A must see film,” by Splash Magazine. LA Weekly gave it a critics pick, and Moving Pictures Magazine said, “Beautiful and moving.” Popular New York Flavorpill described Buddha Wild as, “A refreshing synthesis of Eastern and Western politics and culture, without a nibble of Hollywood cheese.
