BTS, a leading strategy implementation consultancy, has partnered with rainforest conservation specialist Rainforest Trust to purchase and protect 100 acres of threatened tropical rainforest in South America’s Chocó biogeographic region. This year marks the third anniversary of BTS’s partnership with the Rainforest Trust.

“BTS’s continued success brings a responsibility to give back and build more sustainability into the business,” said Jonas Akerman, president and CEO of BTS USA. “We recognize sustainability as a critical priority, are committed to advancing our environmental impact, and are proud to be able to fulfill our responsibility through this outstanding organization.”
For a third consecutive year, BTS has made a generous donation to assist in establishing the Las Tangaras Nature Reserve in Colombia, one of the most vital rainforest sites on earth and home to a high concentration of biodiversity. In addition to safeguarding the habitat and exotic species, the Nature Reserve also protects the watershed of the Rio Atrato—the region’s most important river—which serves as a vital economic resource for tens of thousands of inhabitants living in impoverished rural communities.
Dedicated to preserving biodiversity, Rainforest Trust is a conservation organization working with local partners to acquire and save threatened rainforests and other important habitats. Over the last 25 years, the environmental non-profit has protected nearly 8 million acres for biodiversity conservation. This year, Rainforest Trust was pleased to reach their funding goal for the Las Tangaras Nature Reserve, but is continuing to work to expand the reserve going forward.
“The Chocó rainforest, which contains a wealth of endemic and threatened species, is one the world’s most endangered ecosystems. Adequately protecting this forest requires solid partnerships, and BTS’s continued collaboration is an important part of our efforts,” reflected Dr. Paul Salaman, CEO of Rainforest Trust.
