New Direction IRA, Inc. (NDIRA) held a joint event with the Birds of Prey Foundation, a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates raptors in Colorado, as part of an ongoing relationship with the group.
During an Earth Day event at which clients gathered to discuss their IRAs, Birds of Prey staff members led a demonstration with several orphaned or injured birds they had rehabilitated. Guests saw the raptors up close and were able to ask questions to the Birds of Prey experts.
New Direction IRA President Catherine Wynne said it is important to support the work Birds of Prey does in Colorado and the surrounding area.
“The Birds of Prey Foundation has rescued and rehabilitated more than 12,000 birds in the last 30 years,” Wynne said. “By supporting this group and by sharing an Earth Day event, we at New Direction IRA are hoping to spread their message and get more people involved with their work.”
The group takes in more than 500 birds annually and regularly seeks volunteers and donations to help support its mission. New Direction IRA has been a supporter of the foundation for the last seven years.
“Take time to visit their website and see how this group supports our local ecosystem,” Wynne said. “There’s no other group in the area that does quite what they do.”
In addition to viewing their website, http://www.birds-of-prey.org, you can attend an open house at the Birds of Prey Foundation headquarters in Broomfield, Colo. on May 17 and 18. There, you can see dozens of raptors up close.
“If you’re thinking about donating or just looking for a fun weekend activity, the open house will be a great opportunity to experience something fun and unique,” Wynne said.
