Mother Goose School students will study Earth and the planets of the solar system during the month of January.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2014

Earth Science is the focus this month at Mother Goose School. The children are learning about planet Earth, as well as the other planets in the solar system. Students will also be learning about the sun and how it keeps Earth warm and helps things grow.

Mother Goose School has daily and weekly activities planned on related topics such as the bodies of water, weather patterns, glaciers, volcanic activity, gravity, and various forms of life on Earth. This month’s theme is rich and covers a lot of territory.

Some Mother Goose classrooms will be learning about oceanography, the science of the sea. They will learn about salt water and fresh water, what lives and grows under the surface, the water cycle, evaporation and the effects of erosion, what creates sand at beaches and how rain and snow replenish rivers, streams and lakes.

What would earth science be without the discovery of dinosaur fossils? The school’s B-East classroom kicked off the month’s theme by studying this topic and creating a dinosaur-themed poster for the school lobby.

“The children are excited to be learning about these ancient creatures,” comments Dana Hemberger, owner of Mother Goose School. “We have our own wooden model of a pterodactyl hanging in our school entry. We are learning about the many ways the earth has changed since the end of the dinosaur era.”

In celebration of Martin Luther King Day on Jan. 20, the children at Mother Goose School will discuss his legacy and how his message of tolerance and integration has helped change the way people relate to each other as citizens in the United States and around the world.

Jan. 31 is Chinese New Year. Mother Goose School students will be celebrating the year of the horse. They will be learning about the lunar calendar and its 12 animals.
